Show notes and links: Also, be sure to check out the Inverse ATASCII Atari 8bit and now ST Podcast. We did not realize that on his podcast Wade has an assistant much like “Emily” (our rude British AI assistant).  We have given Emily a part-time role and put “IRATA” in her place. Also Wade assistant’s is not and is not nearly as rude because Wade is much more of an adult than Steve or Jeffhttps://inverseatascii.info/ Game Links Stunt Car Racer for the Atari 8bits – Download and infohttp://a8.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=7541 Bosconian for the Atari 8bit (disks 439 and 440)http://www.mushca.com/f/atari/index.php?idx=9#DISK440 Time Pilot for the Atari 8bit computers http://www.mushca.com/f/atari/index.php?idx=9#DISK435 X:8 for the Atari 8bit Computers http://www.mushca.com/f/atari/index.php?idx=9#DISK401 Crazy Cat for the Atari 8bits http://www.mushca.com/f/atari/index.php?idx=9#DISK435 Mr. Do for the Atari 8bits – well worht your time although we only mention it briefly http://www.mushca.com/f/atari/index.php?idx=2#DISK090 More ...

S4:E5 Discovering the Atari 400, Star Raiders, Caverns Of Mars, Miner 2049er

The Atari 400 was a games machine masked as an entry-level computer computer.  When it was released in 1979, it could play Atari’s killer-app “Star Raiders” just as well as it’s more serious, older brother the Atari 800.   At the same time, the Atari 400 acted as a gateway for many kids to the world of programming.  In this episode we explore how we were first introduced to the Atari 400, the first few amazing games we played on it, and how it sparked dreams of being a computer programmer. The story in this episode was written and produced by Steve Fulton with music from Tony Longworth.
